It is the mission of Skullbrain Books to inspire, empower and encourage children to young adults through the power of storytelling and visual art. We aim to fill in the knowledge gap that schools at times are unable to teach about important life lessons.

In doing so, it is our purpose to create generations of people that are capable of crafting an existence filled with purpose, passion, love, and happiness.

OUR MISSION

THE TEAM

SCOTT HEWITT

Scott Hewitt is an Aussie animator living in Canada. Since 2015, Scott has had the pleasure of animating on some hit children's shows and movies including Bob The Builder, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Spongebob Squarepants: It's A Wonderful Sponge and his all-time dream job Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

He has always been a believer in a world that is full of creativity and wonder. From a very young age, he was always fascinated by the cartoon characters on the TV believing they were real, live, breathing things. Of course, he grew to learn that wasn't true, but it never stopped his wonder in the world of creativity.

Scott has had a very diverse life up until the release of Skullboy and the Leap Of Faith. He has been blessed with working dream jobs as an actor performing in children's theatre, and his current career as an animator. In order to achieve this, Scott had to take a Leap Of Faith of his own and thankfully, it all worked out ok!

Through Skullbrain Books, Scott wants to leave his message and his discoveries in that it is possible to achieve a life on your own terms, it takes work and dedication, and there are setbacks along the way, however, it is possible. It's never too late to start and it's never too early to begin.

ANDI ESPINOSA

ILLUSTRATOR

Andi "SPYRAL" Espinosa is a freelance illustrator from the heat-infested realm of Miami, Florida. Eternally inspired by quirky characters and pencil textures, she is often on a quest for merging some light, silliness, and wonder in dark, spindly, bug-eyed works.

As a child she was sparked by animated flicks and through time developed a love for drawing and creating fantasies all her own. She spends her days in the cool shade, drawing scenes from the imagination and broadening her experiences in the world of art and design.

Quite fond of pencils, cartoons, and ugly things.

Currently a Freelance Illustrator working on published children's books and book covers - and surviving off tacos on the side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do your books feature content that may scare its readers?

A: Sometimes it is important for children to be scared. According to developingminds.net, being scared at a young age can help children develop coping mechanisms that they later take on throughout their lives. Skullbrain Books create stories that are steeped in the strange and unknown to give parents an opportunity in a controlled environment to help their child understand why some things are scary and how they can overcome their fears. It is when we are scared and unsure, that life's lessons really sink in. As much as we grow through praise and compliments, we shouldn't ignore the lessons we learn through adversity and fear.

The world can be a scary place when we get out there and amongst it, so by learning some of the dangers and things we are up against as adults at an early age, we have a greater chance of navigating our lives with passion and empowerment.

It's also the author's belief that there is something fun about scary things. Do you remember going on a ghost train, or walking through a haunted house at an amusement park or even watching a scary movie? There was always that little tingle of excitement, that you knew you were about to be scared and for some reason...we loved it!

Q: When will an illustrated version of Skullboy And The Leap Of Faith be released?

A: Soon! The book is 50% illustrated. We are going to finish off the illustrations and planning for pre-orders in the latter half of the year. By finishing the illustrations first you can rest assured that the book will be released and you will have a beautiful hard copy in your hands when it is ready. If you don't want to miss out on your copy, sign up to our mailing list to be notified when we are ready to go to print.

Q: Is Skullboy and the Leap Of Faith the only book you are working on?

A: Absolutely not! Skullboy and the Leap Of Faith is our premier title. Not only do we have plenty more adventures for Skullboy to go on, we also have other titles with other characters we can't wait to introduce you to!
